Bramnick: Let the people speak at budget hearings

As the state Legislature begins its review of Gov. Phil Murphy’s budget Tuesday, Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick is urging that public comment be allowed during hearings.

“I believe that we should allow the public to speak about the proposed budget,” said Bramnick (R-Union). “Instead the Legislature is restricting them to written comments. This is one of the most important budgets the Legislature has had to put together in recent years and the public has a right to be heard.”

Murphy plans to balance the budget in part through $4 billion in borrowing and just over $1 billion in increased taxes.
